My 14th – There is a square pond in the middle of Boracay that serves as the center of town. I decided to spend the day and walk around the back and side streets. While walking, I acknowledged a lady walking past me, about 20 minutes later we passed each other again, this time she stopped to chat and ask where I was from. We ended talking about ourselves and sharing travelling stories for almost 45 minutes on the side of the street. She was originally from Hong Kong, but had been travelling around the word since retiring from nursing in the US. We exchanged WhatsApp contacts (she taught me about the QR code) and later she messaged to invite me to a sunset cruise with another group she had met. Of course I said yes. We coincidentally met again the next day while she was doing yoga on the beach.

I spend the afternoon updating some posts and even though I had booked the Hostel in Boracay until Monday, I was feeling ready to be moving and decided to take a few days to stop in Iloilo rather that going straight to Cebu. So I spent some time figuring out how to get to Iloilo and booking accomodation. To be honest, I thought it was Wednesday when I booked everything for Friday, then realized it was Thursday, so had to scramble a little and get packed up for the next day.
To my surprise and delight, the sunset cruise was just our small group on a Paraw, the traditional sailing boats I had been admiring the days before. We were seated on the mesh between the center hull and outriggers. It was really interesting checking the rig and how well the captain was able to maneuver amounst all the other boats, stop, turn, etc. It was a very wet ride as we were only seated about 24″ off the water. I had my phone safely tucked away, but would love to know how many cell phones are laying on the ocean floor in that area!
